Chase your dreams and play a part in building a stronger, more equitable health service for communities across Aotearoa with our Matariki Support Worker Scholarship.

Matariki Support Worker Scholarship
Our Matariki Support Worker Scholarship is back for the fourth year, and now for the first time has a pathway open to all NZHG Support Workers.
The Matariki Support Worker Scholarship programme is designed to empower the ambitions of our kaimahi to fulfil aspirations and goals.
As a Support Worker, you play a vital role in our team, and are part of one of the biggest and most impactful workforce groups in Aotearoa. We want to support you to achieve your study dreams and continue to thrive in the health workforce.
Alongside our existing workforce development scholarship fund of $10,000 designed to help level the playing field for our Māori support workers, we now have a further $10,000 available to support workers of all ethnicities.
In alignment with our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi we want to ensure we maintain an equity lens and also acknowledge the whakapapa/background of where this scholarship started. So we have set up two pathways under this scholarship: one for Māori Support Workers and one for non-Māori Support Workers.
Both pathways will consist of a $10,000 scholarship shared amongst successful applicants who are on a study pathway to making a difference in the health sector ($20,000 in total).
A maximum of $5,000 may be awarded to any one individual per year, and the scholarship can be used to pay for tuition fees, living costs, or study-related costs.
We’re very excited to be expanding this opportunity, giving even more of our support workers the chance to follow their dreams in healthcare.
